Awards and Rankings

The school category and open category have separate leaderboards and rankings.

The awards are determined according to the cutoffs below, where n is the total number of teams, and ⌈x⌉ represents the ceiling function. Teams are ranked by the cumulative point total. A rank of r indicates that exactly r - 1 teams scored strictly more points.

The top 5% of teams will receive the Gold award, the top 15% will receive the Silver award, and the top 30% of teams will receive the Bronze award.

AwardRank Range% Cutoff
Goldrank ≤ ⌈0.05 × n⌉Top 5%
Silver⌈0.05 × n⌉+1 to ⌈0.15 × n⌉Top 15%
Bronze⌈0.15 × n⌉+1 to ⌈0.30 × n⌉Top 30%
  • Teams will be ranked according to the cumulative point total obtained during the contest.
  • A rank of r denotes that r - 1 teams scored strictly more than that team.

Conduct of the Contest

Participants may sign into the official SEL Platform at 08:40 on the day of the contest. The contest will begin promptly at 09:00 and end at 13:00.

The Main Problems are accessible throughout the contest may each contain multiple question parts. Main problems have a wide spectrum of difficulties, and later problems will tend to be harder. Each team may work on up to four problems at once. Upon completing a problem, the team may select a new problem to attempt from a pool of other questions.

From 10:00 to 11:00, Economania problems will be available for teams to attempt independently and concurrently with the Main Problems. Economania problems can range from Easy, Medium, or Hard levels, and may contain special variants of question types (e.g., unique multi-step MCQs). Regular Points and Bonus Points earned from Economania problems will be added to the team’s overall score.

In the event of technical difficulties, disruptions, or questions about the platform, participants should raise a Support Ticket on the official SEL Discord Server or email us at contact@sgeconsleague.org. The SEL organisers shall not reply to any requests for clarifications, expansions, or translations of specialized economic terms or diagrams.
